CMS proposed rule delays ACO financial penalties another 3 years
FierceHealthcare

The agency's 429-page proposed rule is meant to improve MSSP by placing a greater emphasis on primary care services and supporting transitions to performance-based risk arrangements, CMS announced.

3 ways hospitals can create an optimal patient experience
FierceHealthcare
With more and more healthcare providers striving to provide the best possible experience of care for patients, a Gallup Business Journal article provides a roadmap for how to spearhead this effort. "The experience starts with a clean, well-decorated patient lounge, continues with empathy from nursing staff, and ends with smiles from employees at checkout," the article states.

Patient engagement, desire to share EHR data are widespread
EHR Intelligence
Patients are generally willing to engage with and share their EHR data, finds a new poll by NPR and Truven Health Analytics, despite ongoing concerns about privacy and security. More than two-thirds of patients said they wouldn't mind handing over their anonymized health information to the research community, which mirrors similar eagerness from other recent surveys. The poll of more than 3000 consumers also found high levels of patient engagement and an interest in adding new sources of data to the personal health record as a way to improve care.
