American Supply Association
This week, leaders in the building and trades industry gathered in Washington to discuss the challenges we each face to attract and retain workers. ASA Appointed to the ASME B31.3 Subgroup on General Requirements
American Supply Association
The American Supply Association (ASA) is proud to announce that Hugo Aguilar (Director of Codes and Standards) has been appointed to a voting position to the ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) Subgroup on General Requirements (SG-A). This code contains rules typically found in petroleum refineries; chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, paper, semiconductor, and cryogenic plants; and related processing plants and terminals. Maintaining an active role in the ASME B31.3 development process benefits ASA members that are in the HVAC industry, but mainly the PVF industry. It has been reported that up to 60 percent of the PVF products being sold or manufactured by ASA members are governed by ASME B31.3.

Cyclical Peaks for Some Positive Leading Indicators
ASA Advisor©
The leading indicators are positive for 2017, and if you align with U.S. industrial production, the year ahead looks bright. However, ASA’s industry analysts at ITR Economics are already on the watch for 2018. Anticipate that some of the leading indicators will form cyclical peaks this year. The U.S. Purchasing Managers Index tentatively formed a peak last month, potentially signaling U.S. industrial production could transition to the back side of the business cycle in early 2018. Know your relationship to the U.S. economy, and if you are closely aligned, plan for slower growth in 2018. In the meantime, strive to improve efficiencies in order to handle higher volumes this year. Log in to MY ASA to access ASA’s latest macroeconomic forecast report for the PHCP-PVF industry.
