ASA and Industrial Careers Pathway Represented at SkillsUSA Conference

ASA and Alliance Partner Industrial Careers Pathway were represented at SkillsUSA's 50th Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City last week. More than 6,000 career and technical education students participated in the annual event, which showcases state winners competing in national hands-on contests in 99 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Ruling Might Help US Become Major Oil Exporter

Companies are taking advantage of new ways to export oil from the U.S. despite government restrictions, and in the process helping the U.S. become an ever bigger exporter of petroleum on the world stage. The Obama administration has opened the door to more exports — without changing policy — by allowing some light oils to be defined as petroleum products like gasoline or diesel, which are not subject to export restrictions.

Manufacturing Sector Expands in June
Modern Distribution Management
The manufacturing sector grew in June, according to supply executives in the latest Manufacturing ISM Report on Business. The June PMI was 55.3%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage point from May's reading of 55.4%, indicating expansion in manufacturing for the 13th consecutive month. The New Orders Index registered 58.9%, an increase of 2 percentage points from the 56.9% reading in May, indicating growth in new orders. The Production Index registered 60%, 1 percentage point below May.
