Distributors attending NetworkASA 2011 please take note: ASA Supplier Partners participating in our Wholesaler & Vendor Conference Appointments on Thursday, Sept. 15, have started their requests to set up meetings with you via ASA appointment scheduling software. The software is designed to facilitate meeting requests and provide distributors with email notifications when appointments have been requested. Upon receipt of a notification, we ask that you please take a few minutes to accept or decline the request. All manufacturers participating in the appointments will start making their appointments this Friday.

Under the debt ceiling agreement, a so-called super committee of Congress will be tasked with finding an additional $1.5 trillion in cuts to the deficit by Thanksgiving. Supply Pinch Could Prop Up Price of Copper

A flurry of weak economic news lately is weighing heavily on copper's price. Recently, the red metal dipped to its lowest since July 25 after a release of weak global manufacturing numbers and concern over global growth. But demand is only part of the equation for the metal widely used in manufacturing and construction. Ron Bloom, Manufacturing Czar for Obama Administration, Leaving White House

White House manufacturing czar Ron Bloom, who played a key role in the 2009 rescue of General Motors and Chrysler, is leaving his position this month, the White House has confirmed. Bloom currently serves as Assistant to the President for Manufacturing, coordinating the White House's manufacturing policy. He recently helped negotiate the deal on new fuel economy standards for 2017-2025, which call for an overall fleet average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. President Barack Obama praised Bloom in a statement, saying his "leadership and expertise has helped us put America's automakers back on the road to recovery, launch new partnerships to make our manufacturers more competitive, and set aggressive fuel economy standards that will save consumers and businesses money at the pump."
