Interior design billings up in May

The ASID Interior Design Billings Index rose by nearly 3 points in May. ASID firms reported positive growth in billings, posting an Index score of 59.8, compared to 57.1 in April. The Index has remained in positive territory now for five consecutive months and for seven of the past eight months (with only a slight dip below positive in December). More

NCIDQ to phase out current multiple-choice exams by 2013

As previously announced, NCIDQ is phasing out the paper-and-pencil multiple-choice exams as the organization launches computer-based testing for two new multiple-choice sections of the NCIDQ Examination. The multiple-choice exams will be given only three more times in a paper-and-pencil format. Candidates who have not passed both of the current paper-and-pencil multiple-choice sections by the end of 2013 must retake both of the new sections because the content will have shifted between the new sections of the exams. More

The Architecture Billings Index saw more poor conditions last month, indicating a drop in design activity at U.S. architecture firms and suggesting upcoming weakness in spending on nonresidential construction projects. The AIA reported the June ABI score was 45.9, nearly identical to the mark of 45.8 in May. The new projects inquiry index was 54.4, up slightly from mark of 54.0 the previous month. More
