EPA takes action to protect public from harmful lead exposure
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently announced 62 enforcement actions that require renovation contractors and training providers to protect people from harmful exposure to lead dust and debris, as required by EPA's Lead-based Paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting standards.

A 2014 GoDaddy.com survey of 600 small business owners showed that 40 percent of the group considers bookkeeping and taxes the most unpleasant part of owning a small business. No one in their right mind starts a business in order to pay taxes. Self-tinting 'breathing' window doubles as a transparent battery

Scientists at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have developed a smart window that is able to tint itself blue, partially blocking incoming light, without the need for an external power source. The device also functions as a small transparent battery that recharges on its own simply by interacting with the oxygen in its surroundings.

New year, new regulations: Maryland's lead paint rules updated

The state of Maryland is renewing its efforts to combat lead poisoning from lead paint — sort of. As of Jan. 1, all rental properties built before 1978 (when lead paint was banned) must comply with the state's already existing "Lead Law." The law includes registering rental units within 30 days of acquisition (for a $30 registration fee), distributing educational information to tenants and meeting risk reduction standards, among other things.
