Lowe's settles EPA allegations on lead paint

Lowe's Cos., the home-improvement retail giant, has agreed to pay a $500,000 civil penalty and roll out a new record-keeping policy for contractors that could encounter lead paint.
The settlement, announced in April, ended a federal investigation into allegations that Lowe's had violated safe practices to prevent lead pollution.
