Video: 4-year-old's priceless reaction to aerobatics
FLYING
Many of you will remember the 2013 viral video of 6-year-old Lainey Woodson experiencing the unbridled joy of flight for the first time in her father's Piper Cub. Now an even more heart-warming video has surfaced of 4-year-old Lea Langumier giggling in the skies over Quebec, Ontario, Canada, as her dad Raphael performs aerobatics in his Citabria. This wasn't Lea's first rodeo, as is plainly evident in the video. She's been flying with her father since she was two. But this was her first time experiencing inverted flight.

The painting and the pilot: When the forest 'waved goodbye'
Hamilton Spectator
We come through thick tall coniferous forest, the kind you find all over Norway, and it as though we are children weaving gingerly around the ankles of tight towering regiments, spruce and pine spaced closely together in almost military order. The forest floor is mossy and covered in low berry bushes. It is mid-June and uncharacteristically cold. Then again, we are just above the 60th parallel and if you followed the latitude all the way to Alberta, you'd find yourself north of Fort McMurray.

Forestry servicemen explain aerial firefighting

Retardant tankers, Canadian water scoopers, lead planes, helicopters, fire engines, hoses and the people behind them, all come together for one reason: to fight forest fires. Saturday, aerial firefighters and Division of Forestry employees gathered at the Palmer Municipal Airport for interviews — at the request of Sockeye Fire Incident Command spokeswoman Celeste Prescott — to explain what they do, how they do it, and in some cases, why.

The 429 has a weight problem — but is Bell bothered?
By Jeremy Parkin
Bell's twin-engined 429 is seeing greater success than any previous light twin the Texas-based manufacturer has ever produced, already eclipsing each of the 222, 230, 427 and 430 models in sheer airframe numbers. Yet, a big divide continues to be seen in its marketplace. The 429 was built around a set of regulations from the FAA that provide minimum specification and performance requirements to gain certification for rotorcraft with a gross weight of up to 7,000 pounds. Bell, however, wants to be able to fly the helicopter at 7,500 pounds.

Cat clings to plane wing for flight
The Guardian
A cat has escaped with at least one of its nine lives after stowing away on an ultra-light aircraft flight. A video has been posted on YouTube of the cat digging its claws into the aircraft's wing as its pilot and passenger fly hundreds of feet above the ground at first apparently unaware of its presence. Romain Jantot, understood to be the pilot in the clip, cites a flying club in Kourou, French Guiana, in the film's description. He uploaded the video on Sunday and it has already received more than 75,000 views.
