The CSCE's International Affairs Committee (IAC) is looking for a dynamic CSCE member willing to join the committee as CSCE Liaison Officer for South Asia (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bangladesh). The CSCE member must be willing to serve a minimum of two years on IAC and to volunteer a minimum of 50 hours per year on unpaid volunteer committee work. This year, the GNCTR competition is being hosted by University of British Columbia - Okanagan in Kelowna, BC from Jan 21 to Jan 24. There are 17 teams from across Canada and even one from the U.S. taking part in what promises to be a great time! Find the competition on Instagram and Twitter (#gnctr2015) to follow along with the fun or better yet come and experience it for yourself if you can. Race Day at Big White on Jan 24 is open to the public.

Feds to study climate change effects on northern infrastructure

The federal government is commissioning a study into how infrastructure in Canada’s northern communities can cope with "extreme climatic events" and the effects of climate change. Transport Canada advertised a study Wednesday to look at the effects of climate change on three airports in the North — and specifically the impact of thawing permafrost on the strength and stability of transportation infrastructure.

Skyscraper construction total hits record in 2014

Ninety-seven skyscrapers, including three in Canada, were completed around the world in 2014, setting an annual construction record, according to a new report. The total height of those 97 towers is 23,333 metres, another record.
