In Memoriam: Patricia Kerr
CSCE
We are very sad to have to advise you all that Patricia Kerr, our co-worker and friend, died on Thursday, June 25.

Patsy was our Membership Liaison Officer. She was devoted to assisting CSCE members and was always pleasant and helpful and professional in her commitment to you. Her passing is a shock and a huge loss to all of us.

Her obituary as published in the Montreal Gazette is provided here.

C'est avec un immense regret que nous vous annonçons que notre collègue et amie Patricia Kerr est décédée le jeudi 25 juin 2015.

Patsy était notre agente de liaison aux services aux membres. Toujours agréable et très professionnelle, Patsy était très dévouée et avait à cœur d'apporter toute son assistance à nos membres. Sa disparition nous attriste profondément et constitue une très grande perte pour nous.

Another Successful CSCE Capstone Competition
CSCE
Twelve teams from across the country travelled to Regina to participate in the 3rd annual CSCE Capstone Competition. Teams presented their final year design project with a poster and two minute presentation. The winner was Polytechnique Montreal.

Un autre Concours Capstone réussi

Le troisième concours annuel Capstone de la SCGC eut lieu le 31 mai 2015 au Congrès annuel de la SCGC à Régina. Des équipes de 12 écoles différentes de partout au pays y ont participé et ont présenté leurs projets de conception de dernière année avec une affiche et une presentation de deux minutes. Les juges venant de l'industrie furent très impressionnés par le niveau de professionnalisme et les connaissances de toutes les équipes et ont du mal à sélectionner les lauréats.

CSCE
Winners of the CSCE Student Paper Competition were announced at the Student Awards Luncheon at the CSCE Annual Conference in Regina, SK. Local student, Nathan Bruce of the University of Regina took home top honours with his paper titled "User-Updateable Municipal Benchmark Database for the City of Regina."

Wynne slams Tories over unilateral infrastructure funding decisions

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne says the federal government’s unilateral approach to infrastructure funding is a "huge problem" and "unworkable," and she plans to use next week's premiers' conference as a platform to push for a coherent strategy. With a federal election just months away, this summer's Council of the Federation meeting, held in St. John's, comes at a strategic time, giving the provincial and territorial leaders an opportunity to frame their issues for the federal parties.

Johnson St. Bridge watchdog fears more cost increases to com

The citizen group opposed to the new Johnson Street Bridge is frustrated but not surprised by the latest price increase and delay. "The real worry is that there's more to come and we don't know how much it's going to be," said Ross Crockford, one of the founders of the watchdog group johnsonstreetbridge.org. "It seems that more things will crop up, and the completion dates will be pushed back again."
