Montreal Chapter of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers Luncheon

Montreal Chapter of Canadian Society of Senior Engineers will be holding a luncheon at Royal St-Lawrence Yacht Club 1350 Bord du Lac, Dorval on Wednesday, September 30th.

Members, veteran engineers and interested persons wishing to attend and hear guest speaker Jim Gordon speak on the topic "Preliminary Engineering for Upper Trishuli I Project in Nepal " are requested to send a cheque for $40 made out to CSSE Montreal to Tom Madanda, 106 Biscayne Ave., Beaconsfield, Qc, H9W 1G3, not later than September 20th ; you may, alternatively leave a message by calling (514 ) 542-3703.

Another Successful CSCE Capstone Competition
CSCE
Twelve teams from across the country travelled to Regina to participate in the 3rd annual CSCE Capstone Competition. Teams presented their final year design project with a poster and two minute presentation. The winner was Polytechnique Montreal.

Un autre Concours Capstone réussi

Le troisième concours annuel Capstone de la SCGC eut lieu le 31 mai 2015 au Congrès annuel de la SCGC à Régina. Des équipes de 12 écoles différentes de partout au pays y ont participé et ont présenté leurs projets de conception de dernière année avec une affiche et une presentation de deux minutes. Les juges venant de l'industrie furent très impressionnés par le niveau de professionnalisme et les connaissances de toutes les équipes et ont du mal à sélectionner les lauréats.

SNC-Lavalin Inc. announced this morning it has replaced president and CEO Bob Card with Neil Bruce, and told CBC News the move is "completely unrelated" to new allegations, published today, in a civil suit that claims giving bribes to win contracts was part of the past practices of the company.

Public support for Toronto Olympic bid appears to be waning

On the eve of the deadline to submit a letter of interest to host the 2024 Olympics, public support for a Toronto bid appears to be waning, according to a recently released poll. A new Mainstreet Technologies survey, conducted on behalf of Postmedia, shows that support for a Toronto bid has dropped by eight per cent to 50 per cent since the last Mainstreet poll was conducted in August.

Essar helps build new Champlain Bridge
Sault Star
The replacement of Canada's busiest bridge will be built with help from Essar Steel Algoma. The Sault Ste. Marie-based company is supplying about 20% of the project's required steel. Structural steel bridge plates will be produced for Canam-Bridges, said manager of corporate communications Brenda Stenta in an email.
