The CSCE and the Canada Masonry Design Centre (CMDC) have developed this course on the new changes to the 2014 edition of the CSA S304, which are viewed as a substantial improvement to the 2004 standard. Bennett Banting, Ph.D., P.Eng., Masonry Research and Development Engineer at the Canada Masonry Design Centre (CMDC), presents a detailed overview of these changes as well as design examples that illustrate how masonry seismic design has evolved to meet the requirements of the 2015 NBCC.

The Canadian government says it will impose a 25 per cent surtax on some foreign steel products in a bid to head off dumping.
The Finance Department said “excessive imports” are harming the steel industry, prompting it to impose a surtax on seven products that range from rebar to wire rods.
Dalhousie University recently celebrated the opening of two new architecture and engineering buildings, a $64 million project on the school's downtown Halifax campus.
The facilities on the Sexton campus were paid for by $32 million from the federal government and $32 million in donations from some of the region's biggest corporations, including $10 million from energy conglomerate Emera and $1.5 million from Irving Oil.
