Hometown Source Share
"It was a very intriguing trip. I initially told them I couldn't go. I had too many issues going on and didn't feel the timing was right. But they were very persistent and talked me into it. I am very glad that I agreed to go." That was Jon Chiglo's initial response when asked about a recent trip he took to Israel. Chiglo was invited by the Israeli National Roads Commission to speak with the top transportation technicians about the "design build" method that was utilized during the I-35 bridge reconstruction project two years ago. The essentials of design/build
Contracting Business Share
There's an old and familiar saying that the essential elements of buying real estate are location, location, and location. When one thinks about the essential elements of Design/Build contracting, one could come up with a similar list: people, people, and people. Successful Design/Build starts with the team. That's what makes it the "omega" to plan-and-spec's "alpha." Design/Build brings all the resources necessary to the project: the idea, the budget, the design, the presentation, the energy analysis, the production schedule, the equipment procurement, the installation, the commissioning, and the performance guarantee.
