Design-build construction projects continue to gain popularity in Wichita, Kan.
Wichita Business Journal
The desire for one-stop shopping extends to the construction industry. Design-build construction jobs continue to gain popularity in Wichita, Kan., and across the nation as more customers seek a simpler way to get their building projects from start to finish. Hiring a general contractor and letting that company take the reins of all aspects of a project, including design, is more appealing to more companies, industry players say.
Solar roads, charging roads, and the future of transportation
Everyone might want super fast trains or driverless cars, but the real innovations in transportation are going to involve infrastructure. Meet the road of the future.
Laser scanning takes BIM to new level
Laser equipment, total stations, robotic total stations, and 3-D laser scanners have become some of the new tools of the trade in the area of BIM (building information modeling). As the next generation of construction prepares for a new evolution in BIM, such tools could have a profound impact on shaping its future.
Can fixed-price contracts be fairly priced?
Project owners are drawn to the design-build method of construction procurement for good reasons. A single source of design and construction allows fast-tracking of projects - commencement of early phases of construction before design details have been completed for later phases. A compressed construction schedule reduces administrative and financing costs.
DBIA's Owner Hotline
