New BIM Survey
DBIA    Share   Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
DBIA is pleased to be partnering with McGraw-Hill Construction on a North American industry-wide survey of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and we encourage you to participate. The survey, which also involves 13 other construction associations in the U.S., will be a comprehensive look at BIM adoption and usage by architects, engineers, planners, contractors, specialty contractors, specifiers, estimators, construction managers, design-builders, fabricators, distributors, manufacturers and owners.

The survey will capture the insights of professionals who currently use BIM and those who do not:

* If you are not currently a BIM user, you will be asked about your current attitude and potential future interest in BIM.

* If you are a current BIM user you will be asked about where you are experiencing value by using BIM.

It will take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The results will be strictly confidential.

To complete the survey go to:

U.S. DOT, FHWA - Every Day Counts 2012 initiatives
Federal Highway Administration    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
In conventional highway construction projects, there are three phases in which a State Department of Transportation creates a design (in-house or with a contractor), opens a bidding process and selects a contractor - usually the one offering the lowest bid - to complete the construction. The process, known as design-bid-build, can lead to lengthy project delays because the process must be completed in sequential order and delays can occur from the lack of communication or sharing of expertise between the designer and contractor. DBIA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As a member, you're probably aware of the information we send out - this e-newsletter is one source and our journal, Integration Quarterly, another. One of these is access to epipeline – a source of information on upcoming government contracts. Contact Sean Campbell at epipeline, for information on accessing this information.

For another, if you’re an Industry Partner member contact, you can nominate one owner for a free one-year individual membership. They'll receive all the benefits of DBIA membership - it's a good way to encourage an owner who already appreciates the benefits of design-build or educate one who's still undecided. And, for owners you'd like to encourage or educate or provide a networking opportunity, DBIA conferences offer some owners a scholarship to help them defray the costs of attending one of the conferences we offer every year.
