Making global programs feel local: 10 guidelines for creating effective global learning solutions

The goal of many multi-national companies is to be able to manage the dilemma of developing global approaches to strategy and to internal programs and making those programs feel local. This applies particularly to the development and delivery of learning programs. There are no easy formulas for global learning program design. There is no simple way to ensure success when there are complex cultural differences to deal with. However, the guidelines provided are intended to suggest a way to create learning experiences that are sensitive to learning styles as well as cultural differences. More

People with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics degrees or certifications are in a prime position in the economy, according to a new workforce study released. Workers with associate's degrees in STEM fields out-earn 63 percent of people who have bachelor's degrees in other fields. Almost half of workers with bachelor's degrees in STEM fields out-earn workers with Ph.D.'s in other fields, according to the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. More

Syracuse University Library's Special Collections Research Center invites applications for adult education research grants. The Special Collections Research Center at Syracuse University Library invites applicants to its Alexander N. Charters Adult Education Research Grants-in-Aid Program, now in its fifth year. Up to $5,000 of grants-in-aid will be awarded in 2012 to researchers wishing to use the adult education collections in SCRC's Charters Library. The actual amount of each award will depend upon the scope of the research outlined in the applicant's proposal. Researchers whose applications are accepted will be encouraged to submit copies of any scholarly output resulting from their work for inclusion in SUrface, SU's institutional repository. More
