50 Shades of Grey's Lead Set Designer on Setting the Mood for the Sexiest Movie of the Year
ELLE Decor
For design geeks, set designer C. Scott Baker has without a doubt one of the coolest jobs in the film industry. He's insanely impressive resume includes movies like Avatar and Bridesmaids (which, as expected, was "a blast"), and soon you can see his work in the hotly-anticipated 50 Shades of Grey movie, out on Valentine's Day. Baker is currently working on the third installment of the Divergent triology, Allegient, but he took some time to tell us what it was like to design for the movie version of E.L. James' beloved naughty novel about the extreme love affair between high-powered CEO Christian Grey and college student Anastasia Steele.

House Swapping for Design Professionals
The New York Times
Sara Frisk never thought about traveling to Mexico City until a stranger named Pilar Muñoz invited her. Muñoz, a publicist for designers, lives in a 4,300-square-foot penthouse apartment with glass walls and luscious green views. The home has richly grained wood floors, trim modern sofas and a kitchen island you could sacrifice an ox on. "If I was going to Mexico, I wanted to be on the water, but that house is completely amazing," said Frisk, a graphic designer and design consultant in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago.

How to Handle Losing a Major Client
Harvard Business Review
Karen Firestone, president and CEO of Aureus Asset Management, writes: I started by asking the client who they were doing business with instead – I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask. However, despite asking Stephen for details on the family's new investment manager, but he wouldn't tell me. Because our conversation was so short, I don’t know for sure why this client left. But my guess is that we hadn't fully understood their expectations – or that the client's expectations had changed.

Beast Friends: Animal Figurines Worth Collecting
The Wall Street Journal
To an outside observer, it must have looked strange when I decided to go to wild Namibia in the summer of 2009.
