Overcome the Complexity Within You
Harvard Business Review
Although it doesn't show up explicitly in any personality test, some people seem to be more prone to creating complexity than others. Instead of narrowing down projects, they allow the scope to keep expanding, and instead of making decisions, they defer until there is more data and better analysis. If this kind of pattern seems all too familiar, here are four questions that can help simplify things.

A Venice Remodel and Addition Rooted in a Beloved Tree
Los Angeles Times
Some homeowners might consider a 20-foot Ficus nitida rooted in the middle of a 5,400-square-foot lot to be a liability, especially when planning a major remodel. But architect Carlos Zubieta isn't one of those people. The two-story glass addition that he completed with his wife, Tatiana Barhar, also a designer, practically embraces the towering tree, transforming a 650-square-foot Venice cottage into a fresh, contemporary family residence centered on the ficus they spent years nursing to health.

Most of us have websites for our business, but it's interesting to notice how often the all-important "About Us" page is overlooked and seems to be more of an afterthought than the attention-getting, customer-seeking powerhouse it should be.

Laundry Room Organizing
The Washington Post
How is it that one of the most-used rooms in many homes is also one of the most neglected? This spring-cleaning season, take some time out to set up your laundry room so that washing and drying aren't such a chore. Paint, decorate and organize, and it will become a room you’ll want to spend some time in. (And if you have a laundry room, you will spend time there: The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that Americans wash 400 loads of laundry a year.) And while you're at it, reeducate yourself on stain-fighting and garment-cleaning essentials to make your work as enjoyable as your space.

Bespoke Chandeliers Inspired by Bees
The New York Times
Guerlain, the French perfume company, recently opened a boutique and learning center in La Cour des Senteurs on the Rue de la Chancellerie in Versailles, a hundred yards from the main entrance of the royal chateau. Suspended from the shop's 22-foot-high arched entrance is a frothy chandelier by Marie Christophe, a sculptor in Toulouse. Christophe said the light was inspired by the chandeliers of the palace and by the gilded bees on vintage Guerlain bottles.
