and Interior design

ARA via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article

3 Ways to Supercharge Fan Engagement on Facebook
Entrepreneur    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
For most business owners, their biggest Facebook challenge is keeping fans consistently engaged. Whether you have 135 or 13,500 likes, the only way to really profit from a business page is to motivate fans to click, share and, eventually, act by buying a product or signing up for an event. Unfortunately, persistently low engagement is a catch-22. More

The Lush Life: Larry Laslo's Palm Beach, Fla., Bungalow
Elle Decor    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
A little over a year ago, interior designer Larry Laslo decamped from a triplex on Manhattan's Upper East Side in New York to a charming cottage in Palm Beach, Fla. His new home, he quips, is "like living in Tahiti, with a Chanel shop six blocks away." After all, where else can you nip into town for enough Swarovski crystals to bejewel 200 tulle gift bags, fill them with painted eggs, and then hide them beneath a tangle of 100-foot banyan trees and 80-foot palms? Schoolyard Trailers Turned Into Modular Homes
Los Angeles Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
When it comes to energy efficiency, most homeowners focus on heating, cooling and lighting. But it may take as long as 15 years for a home's energy usage to match the amount of energy embedded in a home's construction. This was the concept that a West Hills architecture firm embraced with research+upcycle, a modular home company that intends to reuse classroom trailers, transforming them into low-cost but high-style living space. Gringeri-Brown credits the popularity of AMC's award-winning series "Mad Men" for fueling appreciation of ranch houses. "We try to point out the charm of original features," said Gringeri-Brown. Living Light
Home & Design    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The big fieldstone house occupied a quiet Arlington, Va., side street, a stalwart reminder of a time when men went to work in suits and wives awaited their return holding cocktails. Designer Frank Babb Randolph met the current homeowners at a party and came over to survey their house after they suggested it might be a true test of his talent. The house needed Randolph's reductive touch — a penchant for simplifying spaces that he honed years ago under his mentor, the great New York designer Billy Baldwin. More
