"It is an honor to join the Interior Design Society. This is an amazing opportunity to work with an organization that not only has a strong impact on the interior design industry, but also our community at large. I am looking forward to the important work ahead," says Cano.

On behalf of the National IDS office and board of directors, it is with great sadness to let you know the passing of Dot Greenlee. Dot was the past President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter and worked tirelessly with Dwell with Dignity and Jonathan's place, part of their chapter charity projects. Under her leadership, the Dallas chapter won their first chapter of the year award. Dot had her own business, Dorothy Greenlee Designs, in Dallas, Texas, and was recently named IDS National Designer of the Year in the Dining Room category in April. Our sincere condolences to her family, friends, clients and fellow IDS members. Besides Dot's work ethic, she will be missed for her genuine personality and friendly smile. Dot, you will be greatly missed.
IDS National Board of Directors, President

Lucky for me, I have a good friend who practices Feng Shui as a designer and is a true believer in the process and benefits.
Today, I'm excited to talk with Amanda Gates, interior designer in Tennessee area, about the practice of Feng Shui and how it relates to interior design."

Interior Design Hall of Famer Vladimir Kagan worked at his first shop from 1948 until the night before he passed away in early 2016. In short, the German-born industrial designer never stopped working. In fact, a steady stream of his designs are still being released. That brings us to "Annecy," a retrospective in his honor at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery space in Midtown Manhattan. A new sofa, console and table he designed will be made available for sale hand-in-hand with the exhibition, positioned there next to his earliest creations and archived materials.
If you’re looking for an excuse to treat your space to something fresh and new this fall, consider it found. Metallic accents are going to be huge this season, according to Pinterest, who say the number of metallic home accessory pins has exploded recently.
Design and Architecture
Renovations can be a daunting task, especially if you are doing the renovation yourself. Granted, there will be contractors and licensed professionals at stages along the way, but if you are doing the planning and the prepping (not to mention the budgeting) things can quickly turn sour making you question why on earth you decided to do the renovation in the first place. And where your planning may have included illustrations and floorplans, if the plan was not presented in 3D or in a photorealistic render, the final results may be a bit under the bar when all is said and done.
