It’s no secret that at Architectural Digest, they are fans of wallpaper of all types. Whether a graphic stripe or a rich floral, pattern on the wall serves as both art and decor, adding texture and character to your space, making a ceiling look higher, and serving as an interesting backdrop to wall hangings. When you’re living in a rental, though, bringing out the paste is often a strict no-no. Luckily, we’ve got a solution. Over the past few years, companies like Chasing Paper, Brewster, and Tempaper have turned removable paper from a low-end accent for a child’s room to a high-style solution for the non-homeowner. Whether you choose to swathe an accent wall in bold pattern or cover an entire room, these 12 papers add instant impact.
A home should feel as good as it looks. This is why texture continues to be one this year's home decorating biggest trends, according to House Beautiful. Design touches can be subtle and small or big and grand — it's totally up to your creativity and budget. Here are four ways to kick up your home's style with a little bit of texture.
There’s nothing wrong with bringing home a brand-new sofa or chair from your favorite design store, but you do run the risk of your neighbor having the very same piece. Vintage furniture, on the other hand, is much more difficult to replicate — and it doesn’t hurt that it also adds instant history and character to a space. With their unique shapes and thoughtful details, antique furnishings are naturally the focal point of the room, whether the piece is upholstered in an eye-catching pattern, like the curvy floral sofa in interior designer Muriel Brandolini’s New York residence, or a neutral fabric, such as the sleek sectional in a Malibu, California, beach house.
Bathroom window treatments are more than just jewelry for window frames — they lend privacy to the most personal room in the house. The ideal window treatment has the ability to both beautify your bathroom and provide functional coverage for your space. Read on to discover different types of shades, coverings, films, and curtains that enhance bathroom decor while supplying ample privacy for your powder room.
There's a fine line between a beautifully accessorized room and feeling like junk mail, nick knacks and wall art have completely taken over your entire home.
Even popular decorating trends like stacking books, or floating shelves can make you home feel like it's lost in a sea of "stuff." If you want a stylish space, make sure you avoid these decor mistakes that might cause you to stray from the organization you crave.
Once upon a time, creating a trendy home was as easy as fluffing the shag carpet and giving the avocado bathroom suite a quick clean.
But in the days of Instagram and Pinterest, homeowners are now much more concerned with recreating the feature walls, pristine subway tiles and dream kitchens they’ve spotted online.
And if you’re longing for an Insta-worthy home, you’re in luck.
Here, Dailyrecord.co.uk teamed up with kitchen, bedroom and bathroom design specialists DM Design to look at the must-have interior trends and how you can recreate them.
Why settle for a standard-issue mirror when the alternatives are so beautiful? Swapping out a plain wall mirror or medicine cabinet in favor of something with more presence is a budget-friendly way to make over the bathroom or powder room without investing in a full remodel. From chunky and rustic to intricate and refined, these 10 mirrors can make your bathroom the fairest of all.
