Like most other savvy design professionals, interior designer Lori Fountain of FT Design Inc. in Sarasota, Fla., treks off to North Carolina twice a year for High Point Market, a multi-day international convocation of furniture and accessories manufacturers, home retailers and the press. The conference and showrooms tour in this small town is strictly for the trade — no amateurs and no homeowners off the street allowed.
Fountain has been participating since 1980 and the perspective she brings back is valuable to her clients and her business.

Barbara Barry, the Los Angeles-based interior designer, has created a range of products, including furniture, tableware, bedding and even luggage. But one of her favorite projects had nothing to do with design. Six years ago, Barry collaborated with the Canadian company T to create a custom tea blend called Orange Grove, and earlier this year her second blend, Citrine, was introduced.
