Online On-Demand Webinars are Here!!

IDS is proud to announce the availability of pre-recorded webinars at your convenience through our new online learning management system (LMS). We currently have seven CEU certified webinars available through our homepage (www.interiordesignsociety.org) link labeled 'LMS'. There are instructions on how to start the webinar, obtain handouts and take a quiz to show completion once you click on this link. We will have non-CEU certified webinars available after the first of the year. As live webinars are conducted through IDS, they will become available through the LMS if individuals are unable to join the live session. We also hope to premier our conference speakers through this venue in order for participants to gain wider exposure to the speaker's expertise. IDS will automatically update your CEU record when you participate in the online webinars through our LMS thus there is no need for additional CEU filing.

10 Unexpected Ways to Style a Gorgeous Fall Mantel
Houzz    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Decorating seasonally doesn't have to mean turning your living room into a pumpkin patch every fall (unless you it want to). The trick is to reference the mood of the season but with a fresh spin — warm up your walls with the vintage feel of Instagram photos, make a meaningful display using your grandmother's dishes or set up a cozy fireside bar. Styling your mantel is one of the easiest ways to keep your home feeling fresh and current through each season, even if the rest of the room stays the same. Here's the full scoop on how to achieve 10 refreshingly different looks. More

Los Angeles Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Do-it-yourself decorators, meet your new guru. Skyla Freeman: Living Well in 425 Square Feet
The Washington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Skyla Freeman left her West Wing job at the Bush White House on Jan. 20, 2009, part of a wave of Washingtonians who retool every four or eight years when administrations change. "What can I do now?" Freeman remembers thinking. "I was ready to try something nonpolitical." A few days later, Freeman launched her home decorating blog, Sanity Fair, shifting attention from politics to paint, pillows and Palm Beach style. And, eventually, chronicling her adventures decorating her first solo apartment: a petite Capitol Hill studio done in grass green and white. More

At Home With Transitional Style
Chicago Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If you asked most people what kind of style their home is decorated in, you'd most likely hear "transitional." That's because transitional style lends itself to interpretation. Most homeowners have a home that's acquired, meaning that they've added to their decor with time, and as their budget allowed. But that's not really the best definition of transitional — one of America's favorite styles today. More

Doorknobs
The New York Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Gil Schafer is a New York architect who specializes in historical renovations and "new houses that look like old houses," he said. He is also a self-described "hardware nut" who invests a lot of time trying to find just the right hardware to complete each project. But for him, there is one piece that stands out among all the hinges, pulls, latches and locks: the doorknob. More
