|MDNA Membership Dues Renewal
2017 Membership dues have been mailed. Please note that along with this year's dues MDNA would like to receive an updated list of contact e-mail addresses from each company. This list should not be restricted to principles but also include anyone within member companies who wish to receive association news and information.
Payments are due by January 1st.
HOTEL REGISTRATION OPEN
We are very excited that the 2017 Convention will be held at the BoardWalk Inn at Disney World, Orlando FL., May 4-7.
Hotel registration is now open. You may book your reservation by clicking here. Hotel cut-off is April 1. However, please be aware that the Disney's BoardWalk Inn and most of the other properties on Disney operate at 100% capacity. This means that it will be difficult to book extra days as we get closer to cut-off.
The MDNA does not typically book or guarantee any sleeping rooms outside of our meeting and convention days. Doing so would expose the association to undue financial obligations.
The BoardWalk Inn has told us that they can, at this time, accommodate room requests for people looking to stay outside of our convention dates, Thursday May 4th to Sunday May 7th, if we know now.
We need to hear from anyone who is considering coming for longer than the standard Convention and or Board Meeting time frame by Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
If you have already responded there is no need to reach out again but if you missed the earlier email please respond immediately. Your response will not commit you to a reservation but simply will give us an idea of additional rooms needed. If you are interested in coming in as early as the weekend prior to Convention, which would be the weekend of Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, please let us know by Wednesday, December 7, 2016. — Sincerely, John Conroy, MDNA Convention Chairman

Manufacturing expanded in November at the fastest pace in five months, indicating American producers are finding more relief in resilient domestic demand.
The Institute for Supply Management's index increased to 53.2 from 51.9 a month earlier, the Tempe, Arizona-based group's report showed. Readings above 50 indicate growth. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists was 52.5.
The group's production gauge climbed to an almost two-year high, propelling the overall measure higher for a third month as manufacturers continued to rebound from a late-summer swoon.
President-elect Donald Trump said during his campaign that he would, if elected, persuade the air-conditioner manufacturer Carrier not to shutter a plant in Indiana and move more than 2,000 jobs to Mexico.
Trump was elected, and he has evidently made good on that pledge. Or at least some of the pledge.
Carrier said that it would keep more than 1,000 jobs across two locations in Indiana. (Besides the Carrier plant, a facility operated by its parent United Technologies was also facing cuts.)

When designers at Airbus Group SE and Autodesk Inc. sat down to re-engineer a divider for jetliner cabins, they found inspiration at low altitude: slime molds and animal bones.
The European aviation giant wanted a lighter, 3-D-printed version of a partition mounted to a curved cabin wall that supports fold-down seats for flight attendants. The efficient way simple slime molds spread to seek food in forests and other places inspired designers, who eventually created a complex lattice of more than 60,000 tiny metal bars using a structure based on mammal bones.
In October, Chinese garment manufacturer Tianyuan Garments Co. sealed a deal to acquire a defunct 100,000-square foot metal fabrications plant in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The $20 million investment would make Tianyuan — which produces clothes for brands like Adidas, Reebok and Armani — the first Chinese manufacturer to make clothing in the U.S.
The Chinese firm expects to hire 400 American workers to run the refurbished factory, slated to open in late 2017.
