NAMIC Next Generation Leaders Awards call for nominations announced
NAMIC
NAMIC has launched its call for nominations for the 2015 Next Generation Leaders Awards, honoring emerging executives of color for their outstanding contributions to the success of their respective organizations. The Next Generation Leaders Awards will be presented during the NAMIC Annual Awards Breakfast, scheduled for Thursday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, in conjunction with INTX: The Internet & Television Expo (formerly, the Cable Show).

Here's when you can expect racial minorities to be the majority in each state

The percentage of racial and ethnic minorities — people who identify as Hispanic, black, Asian or "other" — in New Mexico eclipsed the percentage of white residents way back in 1994. California, New Mexico and Texas weren't far behind. And by the year 2060, a total of 22 states are projected to have what demographers call, somewhat oxymoronically, "majority-minority" populations.

Asian-American students share their struggles in #MyBananaStory

Some individuals consider the banana to simply be a sweet, crescent-shaped fruit. But for some Asian-American students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it has a different connotation. Like them, it's something that's yellow on the outside and white on the inside. Which is why Paradox, an Asian-American sociopolitical rights organization at the University of Illinois, created "My Banana Story." It brings awareness to Asian Americans who have felt alienated, bullied or suffered from social anxiety while assimilating to American culture and society.

2015/2016 CBS Diversity Writers Mentoring Program

There are many different paths writers can follow to get their first foothold in being hired in television. As part of its ongoing commitment to create additional access for writers of diverse backgrounds CBS' Diversity Institute has launched a different kind of writers program which highlights one of those paths.

Asian-Americans set to surpass whites in median family wealth

The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis examined data from 40,000 families between 1989 and 2013 and found that the median family wealth of Asian-Americans has been increasing over the past 25 years and may eventually surpass that of whites. "The Demographics of Wealth — How Age, Education and Race Separate Thrivers from Strugglers in Today's Economy" compared not only median family income — which for Asian-Americans has long been higher than that of whites because of larger family sizes and higher levels of education — but also other factors comprising net worth including assets, debts, asset diversification and liquidity.
