Xbox One targets the largest market of all: Television watchers
Microsoft has sold 76 million units of the Xbox 360 since its release in 2005. Or shall I say, a mere 76 million units. That's because more than 96 percent of Americans homes have a television while only 49 percent of U.S. households own a game console.

Final tally: 43 shows get the axe
The "Big Five" broadcast networks have seven more new shows on the schedule this fall than they did last year. To make room for the new programs, they had to wield the axe mercilessly during the days leading up to the broadcast upfront presentations.
NBC News picks leader to steer turnaround

Deborah Turness was the first person interviewed for the prestigious job at the top of NBC News earlier this year. It was a telephone interview, because Turness was in London, where she oversaw ITV News. The person on the other end, Patricia Fili-Krushel, was so impressed that she flew Turness to New York for a follow-up.
ESPN Layoffs could reach 400 as part of latest Disney cuts
ESPN just released a statement confirming the cuts, which were first reported by Deadspin. Said the company: "We are implementing changes across the company to enhance our continued growth while smartly managing costs. While difficult, we are confident that it will make us more competitive, innovative and productive."
Myx TV's Press Play and MashBox in the running for NAMIC Vision Awards 2013

Myx TV is among its contenders for the awards in two categories. Press Play, Myx TV's original show that featured dozens of independent music artists from around the country, joins BET Networks and Nickelodeon in the category of Best Awards & Honors. MashBox, Myx TV's interactive TV show featuring second screen technology developed by Rambus Inc., will be evaluated alongside mun2 for the award for Digital Media-Long Form.
Jenny from the (cable) block
Actress, singer and entrepreneur Jennifer Lopez will now hail from the cable block, having been recently named chief creative officer for English-language, Latino-targeted NUVOtv. In an interview with Multichannel News programming editor R. Thomas Umstead, Lopez talks about her new position at the network, binge viewing and rates the cable industry's efforts to reach out to Latino viewers.
Hispanic TV adopts celebrity strategy
Hispanic consumers have been targeted by media companies during the annual upfronts, including one channel recruiting actress and singer Jennifer Lopez as its chief creative office.

Bounce TV unveils 1st upfront programming slate
Don't forget Bounce TV in the black TV network bustle. It's an interesting space, with BET still really in the No. 1 spot, but it's starting to get some competition — not only from other black TV networks, but also from the Web space, where black content creators have gone to showcase their talents, as YouTube provides them with more revenue options.
