Energy injections: Is this new spa trend legit?
The Daily Beast
Spa days typically consist of massages and face masks — but now, some "wellness spas" are offering more on the menu. How about an energizing injection of vitamin B, rather than a rub down? Launched by a group of board-certified physicians in 2012, Reviv Wellness, a self-described wellness spa offers a B12 Pure Energy Booster. It's meant to replenish the body of this essential nutrient, yielding improvements in everything from energy to metabolism.

WHAT'S THE LATEST?

Tailored treatment
Les Nouvelles Esthétiques & Spa

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Scaling the PEAKS of competence
By Dr. David Hillson
How can you know if you are competent to perform in your role? Many professional organizations produce competence frameworks that attempt to answer this question. Unfortunately, most of these frameworks are limited to assessing what you know or what you can do. But knowledge and skills are only two of the elements that are required for a person to be competent in a role. To provide a more complete description of competence, try using the PEAKS framework. This defines the factors that separate truly effective individuals from the rest.

In education, we tend to value a student's ability to answer our questions. But what might be more important is their ability to ask their own great questions — and more critically, their willingness to do so.
