COA-APPROVED CONTINUING EDUCATION

The esthetician's role in a medical office
Presented by Terri Wojak
Working in a medical office is much different than working in a salon or spa. Not only are the treatments at a higher grade, there are many more regulations to abide by, as well as certain professional obligations to withhold. The level of professionalism will likely be at a higher standard as well. We will teach how the acronym "CHARGED" can guarantee an esthetician is professional in the workplace. CHARGED stands for clothing, HIPAA, advice, responsibility, gossip, education and demeanor and is a fundamental component to any esthetician working in a medical office.

At the conclusion of the presentation the teacher will be able to:

  • Provide an overview of the legalities of estheticians working with physicians
  • Explain the roles an esthetician may fill in a medical setting
  • Explain how an esthetician can build business in a medical office
  • Demonstrate the importance of professionalism in the student's career
