NDA Board to meet in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Gettysburg, Pa.

NDA President Jeff Kroeker — of Kroeker, Inc. in Fresno, Calif. — has announced the dates and locations for the first two Board of Directors' meetings in 2014. The Association's Board will hold its summer meeting at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 6-7 immediately following the NDA's Southern California Chapter's 25th "Silver Anniversary" Golf Tournament to held on June 4-5 at the Palm Pacific Resort in City of Industry, Calif.

The NDA's Board Meeting in the fall will be held at the historic Gettysburg Hotel in Gettysburg, Pa., on Sept. 26-27. The hotel was the site of fierce fighting on the first day of the historic battle in Gettysburg in July, 1863. A cannonball from this fighting remains in one of the hotel's exterior walls. The fall Board meeting will also include a tour of Volvo Construction Equipment's new North American headquarters and assembly plant in nearby Shippensburg on Sept. 26.

3M unveils fall protection equipment test facility
Occupational Health & Safety
3M announced it soon will open an new facility for testing fall protection products that range from safety harnesses to escape-and-rescue solutions. The facility, complete with a research and development tower, is located within 3M's Fall Protection campus in Cottage Grove, Minn. and will be fully functional by the end of 2013, according to the company.

Construction employment up in 30 states in November
Associated General Contractors of America via ForConstructionPros.com
Construction firms added jobs in 39 states over the past 12 months, while employment nearly stabilized in the remainder, according to an analysis recently released by the Associated General Contractors of America of Labor Department data. Association officials cautioned that the industry’s recovery was still relatively fragile, noting that a number of states experiencing large annual gains lost jobs during the past month.
