Remember, a Nobel Prize winner is this year's keynote speaker
NDA
One of the best reasons to attend this year’s 41st Annual Convention in Las Vegas is the keynote speaker. Nobel Prize winning physicist Dr. Stephen Chu, the former head of the U.S. Department of Energy, will be addressing the convention this year about the state of the global energy environment. Chu will be discussing how innovation and cooperation helped the United States address many of the challenges faced with the growing demand for energy resources. His presentation will deal with the successes that we have seen in the energy sector, the future challenges the U.S. and the rest of the world face, and how individual companies can implement some of the management tools developed by the DOE when dealing with complex problems.

1 ton of explosives brings down a skyscraper in 10 seconds
Equipment World
To bring down this 32-story, 381-foot tower in Frankfurt, Germany, demolitions experts drilled more than 1,500 strategically-placed holes in its side and packed them full of explosives. More than 2,000 pounds — one ton–full to be exact. More than 10,000 people gathered to see the event, according to Deutsche Welle. It is one of the tallest buildings ever demolished with explosives in the world and the tallest in Europe. Large canisters containing 264 gallons of water were exploded as well to keep dust from spreading from the blast zone.

What it takes to be the boss
By Michael J. Berens
Who wouldn't want to be the boss? You get to call the shots and tell everyone what to do. You get a nice office, an even nicer paycheck and all those perks. What's not to like? It turns out, though, not as many employees as you might think aspire to being the boss. Fewer than 1 in 4, according to a Pew Research Center report. That figure is all the more surprising since bosses express higher levels of job satisfaction than do workers, are as likely to maintain work/life balance and are more satisfied with their home life as well. Are bosses just lucky, or is there something different that sets them apart from their co-workers?
