Detroit blight fight turns to salvaging

Detroit expects to start work in June on Mayor Mike Duggan's latest blight elimination strategy: a pilot project to rescue and sell parts of deteriorating houses before demolishing them. The effort will solicit bids from teams to salvage reusable flooring, fixtures and moldings in 10 vacant buildings in southwest Detroit's north Corktown before knocking them down.
