Ellis Island restoration project gets preservation award from New Jersey

The ongoing project to restore historic Ellis Island was one of eight groups and projects given a New Jersey Historic Preservation Award at a ceremony. The nonprofit group Save Ellis Island received kudos for its work to preserve the "lesser-known south side" of the historic immigrant portal, which included hospital buildings, isolation wards, and "was central to the development of public health policy in America."
