New Hampshire demolition project scrutinized after wall collapses into street
WMUR-TV
A second accident at a demolition site has Portsmouth, New Hampshire, officials rethinking the way they issue permits. Work continued at the site of Olde Port Traders on May 27, a day after part of a wall fell into a street. Recently, the driver of an excavator was seriously hurt when his machine fell 10 feet through the pavement into a basement hole. City officials said it was a matter of luck that no one was injured May 26 when part of a wall fell onto Islington Street.

Turner's cloud-based tool tracks construction debris diversion

Turner Construction Co. has announced it has implemented TurnerTracker, a new, cloud-based tool for tracking construction debris diverted from landfills. Turner says it formalized its commitment to sustainability in 2004, including establishing companywide goals for diverting construction debris from landfills.

Gary, Indiana officials preparing for demolition of Ambassador Hotel, other nearby structures
Chicago Tribune
Gary, Indiana, City Redevelopment Commission officials took steps recently meant to result in the demolition of the one-time Ambassador Hotel and other decrepit structures in a neighboring block on Broadway in the downtown business district. The commission voted 3-0 on May 25 to amend its contract with Karnerblue Era LLC, which is providing the commission with professional services to help them write grant proposals that are meant to raise the funds needed for the city to demolish the one-time 68-unit structure built in 1928.

Drone startup aims to elevate construction tech industry with new funding

Drone startup Skycatch — with major backer Avalon Ventures LLC, among others — said it expects to make industry history as it scores the most funding ever achieved for a company producing drones and software used for monitoring construction sites, oil facilities, and similar work areas. Skycatch is in the process of raising an estimated $30 million funding infusion from private investors as interest in the drone market takes off.
