With Candlestick Park demolition in final stages, Bay Area sports fans take one last look

Time is running out to catch a last glimpse of Candlestick Park before it’s gone for good. The ‘Stick opened more than 50 years ago and for months, bulldozers have been tearing away at the stadium that was home to a lot of Bay Area sports history. "Well there are a lot of us fans that have to see it before goes," said 49ers fan Shelly Fortier.

Reno, Nevada, has $1 million to spend on blight. Now what?

Owners of chronically blighted properties could be visited by Reno, Nevada, demolition crews, subjected to liens or even face criminal charges under options for attacking blight that the Reno City Council will consider on soon In May, the council created a $1 million blight mitigation fund in an effort to clean up both downtown and city neighborhoods that have been maligned by vacant, derelict or run down properties.

NHTSA mandates electronic stability controls for heavy trucks

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a final rule requiring electronic stability control on new heavy truck tractors, effective August 2017. Portions of the new rule resulted from a safety study commissioned under the MAP-21 surface transportation bill of 2012. Shortly after President Obama signed the bill into law, NHTSA started requiring ESC for light cars.

Construction employment hits highest level since February 2009

Construction firms added 17,000 jobs in May and 273,000 over 12 months, as the sector's unemployment rate fell to 6.7 percent, the lowest May rate since 2006, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. Association officials noted that the job gains come as the private and public sectors are increasing investments in construction services.

Caterpillar introduces 4th model in line of material handlers
Construction & Demolition Recycling
Caterpillar has introduced its Cat MH3027, which is the fourth and smallest member of the new wheeled material handler line that the company has introduced in the greater than 25-ton size class. The Cat MH3027 has an operating weight of 62,832 pounds and is powered by a Cat C7.1 ACERT engine that meets Environmental Protection Agency Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV emissions standards. With a swing radius that is 8.3 inches less than the previous model, Cat MH3037, the company says the Cat MH3027 delivers a strong performance in a smaller package.
