Applications and information for this year’s awards program are available on the NDA website. All award applications and nominations are due by October 20, 2017.
NDA’s Excellence in Demolition award is the industry’s prestigious recognition program which honors NDA members who have demonstrated significant environmental conservation and community involvement in 2016/2017.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a member selected for their exceptional service to NDA and to the industry. Any NDA member can be nominated for this award and will be recognized for their commitment to the betterment of their community and company they work for.
NDA’s Scholarship Program awards educational funding for nine up-and-coming students. These scholarship opportunities are awarded to an immediate family member of an owner or employee of a Regular member company.

The hulking race track has stood abandoned for 51 years, an eyesore to some and iconic to others, but a landmark to many traveling the interstate to and from California.

New York's old Kosciuszko Bridge between Brooklyn and Queens was brought down on Sunday morning with a controlled demolition.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo was among those watching as the span came down.
The eastbound span of the new Kosciuszko Bridge opened in April. The second span is scheduled to be finished by 2020.

As Los Angeles rents keep surging upward and the number of homeless residents climbs higher, city officials are considering new policies that would make it harder for landlords to demolish rent-controlled properties.
On Sept. 27, the city council’s Housing Committee received a report from the planning department recommending the addition of a “penalty of perjury” clause to forms required for demolition, giving the city the ability to punish developers who mislead planners about the project’s compliance with the rent stabilization ordinance.

The closing of River Road in South Nyack, New York, on Oct. 10 will allow work to get fully underway. It's expected to be closed into early November.

Mark Crosslin says he doesn't want to be "the villain" of this story.
"I am just a working guy who was interested in renovating places, did my first year in college in architecture and wanted to be Bob Vila," Crosslin said.
But Crosslin plans to tear down his old house, a 92-year-old Lake Cliff property that is part of the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure. And in the building's place, overlooking Lake Cliff on the corner of East Colorado Boulevard and Blaylock Drive, Crosslin hopes to build new condominiums, which he vows will be tasteful.
