Understanding scrap metal demolition and asset recovery
Elder Demolition
A modern demo project inevitably includes scrap metal demolition. Washington D.C. to Washington State, nearly every contemporary edifice contains hundreds of tons of scrap metal, in the form of rebar, roofing, beams, girders, and structures such as water tanks. Metals such as steel offer a lucrative resale value, since they often maintain their strength even upon being melted down for reuse. Every demolition asset recovery plan should include information on scrap metal demolition, since this is often one of the most valuable assets in a defunct building.

Construction & Demolition Recycling
For decades asphalt has been one of the most commonly recycled materials, with reclamation rates as high as 95 percent. The Hoover Inc. paving division of LaVergne, Tenn., likes to keep plenty of reclaimed asphalt pavement on hand and will stockpile several years' worth in advance to keep it readily available. A paving company's investment cost in processing RAP from waste to a salable commodity assures regulators that it is destined for reuse.

Infrastructure bill an opportunity for bipartisanship
The Hill
Now that the government shutdown has finally been resolved, it is time for America to get back to building a resilient and prosperous economy. Luckily, the House is scheduled to consider a bill that would modernize our nation's infrastructure and create jobs, the Water Resources and Reform Development Act. Mortgage News Daily
Freddie Mac recently said that the resurgent housing market supported economic growth in the second quarter, but the recovery appears to have slipped a bit heading into the fourth. Emerging green building material technologies to watch
By Don Rosato
Green building is being transformed from a buzzword to a sophisticated approach using technology that redefines how we make and live in buildings that both reduce building energy consumption and provide for building energy production. This innovative technology helps to create a new market and value network, according to recent Plastics Institute of America market trend analysis. They "disrupt" an existing market by displacing earlier technology. This is particularly true in the evolution of green building material solutions.
