Confident people avoid self-assesment before speaking

Avoiding self-reflection can be a helpful strategy for delivering a composed and powerful speech, say researchers who examined how confident people prepare themselves to speak before an audience. In a study to be published in the March 2015 issue of "Personality and Individual Differences," researchers surveyed students who had given two public speeches, seeking to understand how they prepared and how anxious they were about giving the next one.

Amazon is making it easier to publish your own Kindle textbooks

Amazon announced recently that it’s making it possible for authors to create and distribute digital textbooks using its self-publishing tool, Kindle Direct Publishing. The e-commerce giant expects the new initiative mostly to be used by independent authors, particularly those who have regained the rights to their textbooks, or smaller publishers.

Expedia buys Travelocity, merging 2 of the Web's biggest travel sites

Online travel giant Expedia has agreed to acquire big-name competitor Travelocity. Recently, Expedia said it would acquire Travelocity from its parent company, Sabre Corp., for $280 million.
