Fortune

Oprah and leadership: How to build a steadfast following
By Ryan Clark
My wife and I recently attended Oprah Winfrey's two-day, "The Life You Want Weekend." There, I noticed two things: I was one of only seven men there, and Oprah has discovered a secret that all leaders need to learn — how to get people of all walks to not only trust, believe and follow in their own goals, but also to follow in yours. Over the course of her career, Oprah has shown that by being approachable, building bridges and supporting the talents of those around her, she can evoke a sense of sorority and dedication with her fanbase. And after so many years in the business, there aren't too many ways to become a better leader.

Stop storytelling and start story-sharing
By Timothy Clark
When it comes to marketing, it's time to start differentiating your home improvement company from everyone else. And here's how to do it. For decades, home pros have told the story of their business. Publishing battle should be covered, not joined
The New York Times
Is the fight between traditional publishers and Amazon “the end of the world as we know it,” in the words of the old R.E.M. song? A prominent literary agent declares that, “If Amazon is not stopped, we are facing the end of literary culture in America.” A famous author refers to “censorship” and authors being “disappeared.” Although this is a business dispute, it’s being treated as a battle for the soul of American culture.

Affiliate marketing is a revenue-sharing venture between two businesses. It involves a business earning commission for sending new customers. For example, let's say you're running a company that specializes in shoes. But maybe your customers have asked you about handbags, so you recommend another handbag company. This deal can be finalized by affiliate marketing, and you can earn a commission as you're acting as a marketer for the handbag company and fully satisfying customers. If this is your first affiliate program, you may want to consider working with an affiliate network.
