Wage theft law targeted for repeal

Republicans in the GOP-led New York state Senate passed a bill that would nullify a portion of the Wage Theft Prevention Act and approved a budget and jobs plan that recommends repealing the law entirely. Several legislators have argued the law's requirements — in particular, that employers provide detailed wage statements to workers each year — are too onerous on businesses and stifle job growth.
