Rejection. At one point or another in our lives, we all face it. Some of us simply deal with rejection and move on. Others take steps to learn and improve so it doesn't happen again. In the case of job candidates, however, the majority don't like to go down quietly. This might not have been that big of a deal 20 years ago. In today's social media-driven world, however, the result can impact your brand, your reputation and even your bottom line.

State labor department releases preliminary February 2014 area unemployment rates

The New York State Department of Labor released preliminary local area unemployment rates for February 2014, which are calculated following procedures prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The state’s unemployment rate relies in part on the results of a telephone survey of 3,100 households (out of more than 7 million) in New York State.

House OKs bill raising ACA definition of full time
Staffing Industry Analysts
The U.S. House of Representatives approved the “Saving American Workers” Act, H.R. 2575. The legislation would repeal the 30-hour definition of full-time employment under the Affordable Care Act and change it to a 40-hour definition. It was approved by the House in a 248-179 vote.

Top occupations for temporary employment growth

The industry that’s added the most total jobs since the recession is staffing, and new data suggests the upward trajectory will continue throughout 2014. The hiring surge in contingent labor accounts for 15 percent of all job growth nationally from 2009 - 2013, even though the industry accounts for a relatively small portion of the nation’s workforce.
