David Sutherland, former special assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and career warrior, as he closed his speech to the RecruitDC attendees recently. For the 300+ recruiters in the room, his words hung in the air and lingered long after he left the stage. He had just given a moving 30-minute speech about the value of hiring veterans and the need for a trinity of support — public, private and government — for returning veterans. More

U.S. job growth braked sharply for a third straight month in May, and the unemployment rate rose for the first time in nearly a year, raising chances of further monetary stimulus from the Federal Reserve to support the sputtering recovery. America's major metropolitan areas added nearly 1 million jobs during the past year, with New York City leading the way. On Numbers totaled the latest employment figures for the nation's 100 biggest labor markets, using newly released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The results show 28 markets added at least 10,000 nonfarm jobs and 79 of the top 100 markets posting year-over-year gains. More
