New York economy continues growth, adding 5,900 private sector jobs in October

New York State's economy added 5,900 private sector jobs in October, the State Department of Labor has reported. The job growth brings the total to 110,300 private sector jobs added to the state's economy in 2012 and sets an all-time high job count for New York at 7,340,100. More

October employment in the Buffalo metropolitan area was flat compared to a year ago, according to the latest state Department of Labor figures. The Buffalo Niagara region saw private-sector employment decline by 100 jobs year-over-year, indicating there was statistical change. Rochester region adds jobs

The Rochester metropolitan area economy continued to improve in October, with an increase in the number of private-sector and non-farm jobs, the state Department of Labor said Thursday. Over the last year Rochester added 3,600 non-farm jobs, up 0.7 percent, while the private sector gained 3,200 jobs, or 0.7 percent. Both were on a not seasonally adjusted basis. Job gains in the area again were concentrated primarily in the professional and business services industry. More
