RBMA Annual Meeting notification and electronic vote — ballots due May 3
RBMA
The Annual Meeting of Members of the Radiology Business Management Association will be held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Tuesday, May 21, at approximately 9 a.m. RBMA's Bylaws, Article IV, Section 3 require notification not more than 60 and not less than five days prior to the date of such meeting.

RBMA conducts the election of the Slate of Candidates for the RBMA Board of Directors electronically. This allows members who do not attend the Radiology Summit to participate in the election.

Only Active (ACT and 2ND, or Voting) Members may vote on the Slate of Candidates, which consists of nominees for two Regional Director and four Director-At-Large positions. All Active members should have received the link for the electronic ballot. If you have not received it, please email vote2013@rbma.org. Ballots are due by May 3.

The results of the election will be announced at the 2013 Annual Members' Meeting, and the new directors will take office immediately upon the conclusion of the meeting.

Congratulations to the 2013 Bob Luther Emerging Leader Travel Scholarship winner — Terri Bice!
RBMA
Born and raised in New Orleans, La., Terri moved away after college with an opportunity to live and work in Asia, Europe, Hawaii, New York, New Jersey and Texas. Her resume looks somewhat like a travel brochure, but she couldn't wait to get home to New Orleans! So, what else could she do in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina hit than pull up stakes from San Antonio, put her house on the market and move home to help her mother recover?

Currently the business manager for Radiology & Interventional Associates of Metairie, La., a hospital-based 12-partner practice in the New Orleans suburbs, Terri holds a B.S. in health science from Our Lady of Holy Cross College and an M.S. in healthcare management from the University of New Orleans.

ACOs, income on the rise, but enthusiasm for medicine waning among MDs

Physician earnings are up, but fewer and fewer said they would go into medicine if they could do it all over again, according to the Physician Compensation Report 2013 from Medscape. Findings were based on a February survey featuring 21,878 U.S. physicians from 25 specialties. About one-third of the specialties surveyed each earned a mean of $300,000 annually according to Medscape.

Study links slowdown in healthcare spending to weaker economy

The recession and the slow recovery from it are the major driving forces behind a recent slowdown in healthcare spending, while higher patient cost-sharing and other changes to the health system play a smaller role, according to a study released by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Altarum Institute. For the study, analysts developed a model that tracked healthcare cost growth using economic indicators over the past 50 years to predict future growth rates.
