Rusk County sheriff, community cite success in 1st term

Since Rusk County Sheriff Jeff Price has completed his first year in office, Henderson police officials said they have noticed more interdepartmental communication between the city and the county law enforcement agencies. "We know [Price's] department will help us if we need it, and we'll do the same for them," Henderson Police Lt. Craig Sweeney said.

New York City triple murder suspect captured in Texas
WLS-TV
Miguel Mejia-Ramos, a father suspected of murdering his wife and two daughters in Queens, N.Y, is under arrest. Mejia-Ramos, 28, was the focus of a nationwide manhunt, and law enforcement in the small town of Schulenberg managed to take him into custody by tracking his cellphone. Lt. David Beyer of Fayette County Sheriff's Office confirms that they are working with police in New York to extradite the suspect back to that jurisdiction.

Cigarette trafficking: A big problem in a small package

The circumvention of a state's cigarette excise tax may not seem like a criminal enterprise worthy of serious attention from law enforcement. But Corporal Detective Johnny Capocelli of Virginia's Chesterfield County Police Department strongly disagrees. "This isn't a tax issue. This is about the criminal activities associated with cigarette trafficking," Capocelli says.
