Report: Bloomberg reloads in push for gun control
Reuters    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Among the slick, million-dollar ads for the likes of Pepsi and Honda during the Super Bowl, viewers in Washington will see a far more modest spot. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino will be sitting on a couch touting an issue most politicians avoid like the plague: gun control. The two mayors, whose local teams face off in the big game, are making the pitch for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the organization they co-founded in 2006. More

Las Vegas Review-Journal    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
One of the frustrations faced by folks with concealed weapons permits is finding a gun that packs the punch they want, hits where they aim and is still easily concealable. Right to bear arms: In defense of our students
Campus Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
How many people actually believe that a sign prohibiting firearms is going to stop people from bringing their guns to the massacre they have been planning? Because of the pressing need to arm students, 14 states over the past year have introduced legislation to allow college students and faculty to exercise their Second Amendment right to carry concealed weapons on campus. Such a bill allowing handguns on campus was passed in Texas last year. One gun-owning Texas A&M student, when asked about the law, explained that "gun-free zones are shooting galleries for the mass murderers." More

Concealed weapons bill win easy passage in House without debate
The Washington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Two bills that would make it easier to obtain concealed handguns permits and keep the information secret has won easy passage in the House of Delegates. A bill that would shield records of concealed weapons permit holders from public inspection passed 81-17. The records are public record. Legislation to conceal them came before the gun-friendly General Assembly several years ago when a Virginia newspaper angered Virginia concealed weapons permit holders by posting a permit holders' database on its website.
