USA Shooting team ready to defend home-field advantage

Twenty-three of USA Shooting's elite shotgun competitors will try to defend their home-field advantage beginning Sunday, March 25, when action in the 2012 International Shooting Sports Federation Shotgun World Cup gets underway in Tucson, Ariz. In 2012, Dallas Safari Club will grant over $1 million for conservation, education and hunter advocacy efforts worldwide. It's the first time that DSC's annual grant budget has topped the million-dollar mark. The 2012 figure represents a 27 percent gain over 2011. DSC's record commitment follows major growth in its annual convention and expo. More

Congratulations to the 2012 All-Zone Teams, selected for each of the seven NSCA zones for shooting during 2011. Each zone's team consists of 18 shooters: five from the Open category, one from each class and one from each concurrent. Earning a position on the All-Zone Team requires shooting a minimum of 500 registered targets within the home zone and participation in the Zone Championship. More

Officials at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit announced that the largest multi-discipline, shoulder to shoulder, collegiate shooting sports championship event in the United States will grow even larger in 2013. At the inaugural Army Strong Collegiate Shooting Championships last week at Fort Benning, competitors in the NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships, NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championships, Scholastic Steel Challenge Collegiate Championship and Scholastic Clay Target Program Challenge earned titles. Out beyond Ozona in the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas, elegant pronghorn antelope are fighting for their lives. There in the 16-county area that is home to Texas' desert and mountains, the pronghorn population has plummeted to just about 3,700 animals, says Shawn Gray, who directs the mule deer and antelope programs for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Drought has limited food supplies and habitat. Predators have taken fawns. More
