Mayes shoots #200 perfect .410 score in Dallas

Skeet shooter Wayne Mayes has achieved what could be regarded as the most amazing feat in skeet history, shooting a world record 200 perfect, 100-straight scores of .410 bore. Mayes set the record at the Pan American shoot at the Dallas Gun Club. Mayes shot his first perfect .410 score 41 years ago with a Remington 1100 on Aug. 28-29, 1971, in Mobile, Ala. More

The USA Shooting Team has secured exclusive use of a shooting range in Denmark for a pre-Olympic Games Training Camp, thanks to a contribution from Dallas Safari Club. Prior to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the USA Shooting Team conducted a similar camp in Korea. That move was considered a key factor behind the team's successful showing with six medals, 12 top-5 finishes and two Olympic records. More

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, Darrell Issa, R-Calif., rebuked Attorney General Eric Holder for misleading Congress about Department of Justice knowledge of the controversial tactics employed in Operation Fast and Furious. Holder told Issa's committee that he, and other senior officials, had no knowledge of the tactics used in Operation Fast and Furious, but documents show tactics used in the operation were approved by senior officials at the DOJ. In April, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found that the National Rifle Association was viewed favorably by 68 percent of Americans, and unfavorably by 32 percent. Unlike most polls, the Reuters poll apparently did not allow "unsure" or "undecided" as a choice. In each of the demographics which the poll provided — Republicans, Democrats, independents, whites, and blacks — the NRA was viewed favorably by at least 55 percent. More

Dove hunters needed for national survey

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is asking Texas dove hunters to take part in a national survey this month. The upcoming survey will ask dove hunters from across the U.S. to share their experiences and opinions about dove hunting. Topics will include time spent hunting, demographics, constraints to hunting and thoughts about potential effects of spent lead from hunting ammunition on mourning doves and other wildlife. More
