House panel recommends Holder contempt citation

Voting on strictly partisan lines, a House committee recommended that Attorney General Eric Holder be cited for contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents relating to the botched Fast and Furious weapons sting operation. The vote ended an extraordinary daylong hearing that took place after President Barack Obama asserted executive privilege over some documents sought by the panel investigating Fast and Furious. More

Radulovich wins HOA title at Texas State Championship

David Radulovich has won his second major championship in as many weeks, taking the HOA title at the Texas State Championship hosted by San Angelo Claybird Association. The event drew 418 competitors, including 137 Master class shooters. Runner-up was Brad Kidd, who was also the high-scoring Texas resident shooter, and Scott Robertson finished third. The FBI preliminarily reported that violent crime has dropped yet again — for the 18th time in the last 20 years. According to the report, the estimated annual number of murders dropped 1.9 percent from 2010 to 2011 which, given the increase in the U.S. population during the year, would translate into a drop of between 2.5-3 percent in the per capita rate of murders. Texas water organization meets with Ducks Unlimited

The Lower Colorado River Authority invited Ducks Unlimited to their June 19 Water Operations Committee meeting in Austin. The LCRA denied water for rice agriculture uses in the Texas Mid-Coast this year, essentially eliminating 60,000 acres of important habitat for wintering waterfowl in one of DU's highest-priority conservation regions.
