The Washington Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Federal agents and prosecutors in Phoenix ignored risks to the public and were primarily responsible for the botched effort to infiltrate weapons-smuggling rings in the operation dubbed "Fast and Furious," according to a report by the Justice Department's inspector general. The long-awaited report also criticized senior officials at the Justice Department and its Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Washington. More

UN gun control treaty is bad for gun owners everywhere
Town Hall    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Last time I checked, Americans were responsible for making our own laws. We do not invite foreign nations to have a say in how we govern ourselves within our own borders. Yet if you follow what's been going on with the United Nations this year, you know that the USA came perilously close to having other countries dictate our gun laws. And the fight isn't over yet. FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

There is no such thing as 'gun control'
AmmoLand    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
From James Kaleda: The question of whether or not more gun control is needed to prevent violence is often posed and hotly debated. Advocates both for and against are quick to debate and defend their positions. I suggest that the question can not be answered because the term "gun control" holds different definitions for both sides and refers to a concept that does not exist. More

Shooting tip: Synchronize gun with target
NSSA-NSCA    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Synchronizing the movement of the gun barrel with the target allows the eye to focus clearly on the target just prior to and through the breakpoint. It is this synchronized movement with the target that allows you to apply sharp visual focus. When the gun is moving erratically or at a faster speed than the target, the movement of the gun barrel tends to pull the eye off of the target by distracting visual focus. More

Texas hunting outlook, from a Texas deer expert
Field & Stream    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Brandon Ray, a regional bow hunting expert in Texas, writes: "I find the best information on deer in a specific area comes from the guys that are in the field year-round. One such guy is my friend Ronnie Parsons. Parsons hunts whitetails in west-central Texas. He's been hunting there for decades. So far, he has 34 Pope & Young whitetails from Texas, including two recently taken during the terrible drought. So I asked Parsons for his outlook on hunting middle Texas this season." More

Do fall turkey seasons make sense?
National Wild Turkey Federation    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Fall turkey hunting was the rule in the early to middle 20th century. Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and even South Carolina had fall seasons, as did a number of Western and Midwestern states. Legions of hunters took to the woods each fall in pursuit of a wild turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner. Spring gobbler seasons actually were unheard of in the North and mid-Atlantic region until the 1960s. More
