Black Friday gun sales break records
AmmoLand    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Last week's Black Friday guns sales increased noticeably over last year's record breaking levels. The FBI did 154,873 instant background checks on Nov. 23, which is up 20 percent over the 129,166 background checks they did last year. But since multiple guns can be sold with each background check, even these impressive numbers do not tell the whole story. There may have been twice as many guns sold as there were background checks performed. More

Thwarting global gun grabbers
The Washington Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The United Nations is pushing gun control on a global scale, and President Barack Obama is on board. Just a few hours after re-election was assured, the president's representative cast a vote for the Arms Trade Treaty at a U.N. committee meeting. The loosely drafted agreement doesn't go after guns directly, but the language enables activist judges to get creative in restricting Americans' exercise of their Second Amendment rights. More

The Sportsmen's Act of 2012 needs your help
National Shooting Sports Foundation    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The Sportsmen's Act of 2012 still can be enacted in this Congress if we keep the pressure on. All hunters, target shooters and firearms owners should call your senators today and urge them to work in a bipartisan manner to resolve budgetary concerns so the Sportsmen's Act can be brought back to the floor for a vote on final passage. There are ongoing negotiations but time is running short. More

FINALLY, a gun lubricant exists that can withstand the most extreme conditions.
After using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus, Floro Lavalle with Sierra Outfitters in Argentina reported cleanings were much easier, they were needed less frequently and field jamming went down to almost non-existent. While these statements may seem generic and boring, consider that they shoot on average 2000-5000 rounds per day per gun, OVER 1 MILLION ROUNDS PER YEAR, and pair that with Lavalle’s full season of using Safari Charlie Gun Lube Plus. His report was an 83% reduction in repair/replacement costs. MORE...

Fast and Furious fight with Holder continues
Town Hall    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
It's been just over a week since Attorney General Eric Holder officially announced he would be sticking around as the head of the Justice Department for "about a year," but his planned departure hasn't made the battle for Fast and Furious documents go away and the House Oversight Committee, headed by Chairman Darrell Issa, is still embroiled in a lawsuit over President Barack Obama's assertion of executive privilege over subpoenaed documents. A quail hunting tradition
North Texas e-News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Today, it's rare to find a covey of wild birds in East Texas. The biologists haven't really determined the exact reasons, but most are quick to point out it's not the invasion of fire ants that wiped the birds out. Loss of habitat due to modern farming practices and the introduction of coastal Bermuda grasses are said to be primary reasons for the drastic drop in quail numbers. More

Deer hunters should change tactics this season
Fort Worth Star Telegram    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
It's all about water. It is perhaps the one deciding factor that tips the scales to the right or left more than anything else on annual hunting success among deer hunters. The results produced by adequate rains last winter and last spring following a year of virtually no beneficial rains is perhaps one of the greatest examples of how hunting conditions and success rates can change over a one-year period. Hunting is a conservation tool
KGBT-TV    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
It might come as a surprise to some, but hunting is one of the most effective conservation tools that we have. More than 95 percent of the native wildlands that remain in deep South Texas are in the hands of private landowners, and in order to keep that important habitat intact landowners must find a way to make their land produce income. Taxes must be paid, windmills repaired and fences kept up. More
